Speed skating evolved into inline skating, and RSC\u2019s recreational section also grew. Along with the new name \u2018Roll &amp; Skate\u2019, the club joined the Flemish Skating Union (VLSU) in 2022. Roll &amp; Skate is therefore the base from which you, as a skater, can compete in speed skating on wheels and\/or on ice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Did you know that inline skating actually originated on ice? Many athletes now practise both sports: they skate on wheels in the summer and take to the long track in the winter.<br>Unfortunately, there is no long-track ice rink in Flanders. That is why our club travels to Breda during the skating season and holds dryland training sessions in Heverlee. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Recreation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You can try out speed skating through the Start 2 Speed programme at the Heverlee Sports Centre, but we also offer a Start 2 Ice programme: at certain times, recreational skaters can join the training sessions in Breda. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Would you like to come along to Breda? If so, please send an email to&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:c-ice@rollandskate.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">c-ice@rollandskate.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Competition<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Breda (October to February):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Every Saturday morning at the indoor ice rink in Breda (10.00 am to 12.00 pm). There is a weekly training session for young people, supervised by a coach, and you can also hire clap skates.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Carpooling for the Saturday sessions in Breda (departure at 8.30 am, return around 1.30 pm) and the use of skates are organised via a WhatsApp group. You are welcome to attend the training session twice as a non-member, with no obligation to join.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Would you like to come along to Breda?
